In Loving Memory of Mickey Jr.

04/12/53 - 12/20/00

Mickey Jr. was born in April 1953, just in time for opening day. 
In June, I flew with him to New York so he could finally meet his daddy. 
My sister, Pat was with us.  Mick was waiting at the airport with Billy Martin.

I handed him little Mick and he didn't say a word. 
He had an expression on his face that was close to awe. 
He cradled him in his arms and looked at him. 
He just kept looking at him.  There was something else in his eyes, a question. 
I always thought he was wondering, "Am I ready for this?  Am I ready to be a father?"
